White

The hospital was a hell in white;
The demons dressed in white jackets
And walked down white hallways
To me in a white gown
Trembling like frightened child.

  1. I loved this; the brevity works really well. One question - does putting the narrator in a white gown as well predispose the symbolism to chaos if both the demons & the angels are wearing white? Will have fun reading through your blog archive if this is representative of your wonderful style.

  2. nice -- I have been in and out of the hospital all summer, so I can completely "see" this poem.

    I tried writing an environmental poem about all the trash a hospital uses. I failed. :(

  3. Thanks to you both. CRB, just a note: being forced to WEAR one of those lovely gowns is part of the hell, lol.

  4. Gotcha, and makes sense. What is it Stephen King said about hell? Oh yeah, hell is repetition, over and over and over and over... very much enjoyed your take on the subject.
