Far away from here and now

REAL LIFE

Unconditional
That's what love's supposed to be
Even in real life.

BURY THE DEAD (Day 30 - Bury the ____)

It's time to bury
The dead. Just make sure they are...
Actually dead.

ALL EATEN (Day 18 - Pick 2 vowels)

Apples, peaches, grapes
Bananas, a strawberry
All eaten by me

Caren E. Salas

The prompt today was a challenge: I could pick 2 vowels, and then write a poem using only those vowels. I chose A and E. I figured I'd better stick with a shorter form so I wrote a haiku.  It's off my "theme", but what the heck, it was this or zombie moans and groans; and there are too many different vowels in the words zombie, and undead.

LIES (Day 14 - honesty/dishonesty)

Were you infected?
No, she said, and shook her head.
I knew she had lied.

So sad he was gone.

Alone #23

Alone and asleep
Trusting I'll be looked after
By angels and dreams.

Caren E. Salas

Prompt #23:   "Alone"

North West #21

They named her North West
Why would you ever do that
To a baby girl?

Prompt #21 Choose "direction on a compass" to write about. No particular direction came to mind. Just a little girl's name...

Holy Cow! #15

Holy cow! She said
As she watched the band perform
"We will remember"

Caren E. Salas

I know November is already over, but I'm still determined to finish the Poem a Day prompts, even though it's more like a poem every few days, haha, #15 prompt (wow, I only got through half, how sad.) was "holy ____" . I couldn't think of a thing at first, but then I was watching a video of my daughter's band performing a beautiful, touching and patriotic field show, "We Will Remember". The band had just done a spectacular visual and a woman in the crowd cried out "Holy Cow!". There were really not a lot of words to describe the feelings that overwhelmed the crowd. So I thought, I should do a haiku, because the form is perfect for when you have a lot to say, but don't need a lot of words to say it.

When - Day 11

Old man, old woman
Holding hands remembering
When they fell in love.

Caren E. Salas

Day 11 Prompt: write a "Timely", or a "Timeless".  I went with Timeless...and haiku.   My in-laws on the 60th wedding anniversary. (Next February it will be 65!)

The sea blows kisses
As I walk along the shore
Like a lost lover.

Summer Love

Palm trees, sunset glow
Sea, sand and warm summer nights
You and I dreaming

Sci-Fi

Funny little men
With large black almond-shaped eyes
Came from outer space

Caren E. Salas

Day 17 of April PAD, prompt: a science-fiction/fantasy poem. Normally this would be a no brainer, but lately my "brainer" has been pre-occupied with being, well, sick :(  So I kept it simple, and went with a haiku.

Palms

Reaching to the sky
Fronds waving in the breezes
California palms

Caren E. Salas

Day 10 of April PAD, prompt: a poem about a tree or forest. I decided to go "haiku" on this one.  :)

One More (Day 11 - a "maybe" poem)

One more, just maybe
One more leap of faith and trust
Then no more chances.

Day 10: A Love Poem

At my worst moments
He's always there loving me
And holding my hand.
